Biography

Loren Whiting Babbitt (1806-1883) was an early Church member.

Loren Whiting Babbitt was born September 19, 1806 to William and Lydia Babbitt in New Marlborough, Massachusetts. Loren married Almira Castle in 1830. After her death he remarried Mary Arey in 1846 as well as Mary Bunning in 1852 and had nine children. He was baptized into the Church in 1832 and ordained a member of the Seventy. He helped to build the Kirtland Temple and served a mission in Ohio in 1844. Loren was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 6, 1863 and became a high priest in 1866. He passed away on August 29, 1883 in Stewartsville, Missouri.
