Biography

Charles Richard Fillerup (1873-1936) was a school principal in Chihuahua, Mexico.

Charles Richard Fillerup was born on November 11, 1873 in Provo, Utah to parents Anders Peter and Caroline Rasmussen Fillerup. After graduating from Brigham Young Academy he was called to work as principal in the school at the colony in Mexico. Here he met Moneta Johnson. They were married on June 1, 1898 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they had thirteen children. He married Mary Evalyn Johnson on November 19, 1901 in Chihuahua.

They lived in Mexico for some time before they were forced to flee to Arizona. Here he began work as a school teacher and principal at various institutions.

Fillerup passed away on February 20, 1936 in Flagstaff, Arizona. He is buried in Snowflake, Arizona.

Also contains letters from Charles Richard Fillerup and Moneta Johnson Fillerup to Anders Peter Fillerup. The letters document their life in the Mexican colony including weather, marriages, Charles's work as principle of The Diaz Academy, sickness, missionary work, and other church related events.
