Biographical History

Edward Partridge (1793-1840) was an early convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an ecclesiastical leader.

Edward Partridge was born August 27, 1793 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to William Partridge and Jemima Bidwell. He was ordained as the first bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints in 1831. In 1819, he married Lydia Clisbee in Kanesville, Ohio. On December 11, 1830, Edward was baptized by the Prophet Joseph Smith in New York. He died in 1840 in Nauvoo, Illinois.
