Biography

David Hammond Allred (1908-2001) was a director of the New Zealand Visitors Center and served in the United States Governemnt.

David Hammond Allred was born May 17, 1908 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada to parents J. Urban Allred and Amelia May Hammond. He went on to serve a three-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Samoa in 1926. After graduating from Brigham Young University in 1934, he attended George Washington University and recieved a Masters Degree in Economics from American University. Hammond Allred married Mary Inez Hall on June 5, 1936 in the Salt Lake Temple, with whom he had 4 children. He served the United States Government in the Agricultural Department, Soil Conservation Service, Office of Inter-American Affairs, and in the War Food Administration. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served several missions during his lifetime, including one in New Zealand as director of the New Zealand Vistors Center in 1976. Hammond Allred passed away December 3, 2001 in Bountiful, Utah.
