Typescript of an autobiography. Crouch was born in Tumbridge Wells, Kent, England; migrated to America in 1856; and came to Utah in 1859. Crouch tells about encounters with Ute Indians, describes Orrin Porter Rockwell, and writes about being married polygamously. He lived in numerous places in Utah and had several occupations.

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typescript. The item is an autobiography of Jennings written in 1935. Jennings was born in Ohio in 1853 and moved to Utah with his parents in 1856. He went to the Dixie Mission in southern Utah in 1862 and settled at Rockville. He gave his observations on schools, lyceum discussions, and the economic situation in the area. Typescript (carbon copy) of an autobiographical sketch written by Layne in 1898 which gives details of his early life in Nauvoo, Illinois; his trek across the Plains to Utah; his settlement in Davis, Weber and Cache Counties, Utah; his experiences with the Mormon soldiers sent to oppose Johnston's army; and his eventual move to Alberta, Canada to escape arrest as a polygamist. Also includes extracts from his journal, 1887-1891.
