Biography
Brigham Young (1801-1877) was a Latter-day Saint ecclesiastical leader and politician in Utah.
Brigham Young was born on June 1, 1801, in Witingham, Vermont. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1832, and moved to Kirtland, Ohio. He followed the migration of the Church from Ohio to Missouri to Nauvoo, Illinois. In February 1846, he led the "Mormon Exodus" to the West, and was sustained as the second president of the Church on December 27, 1847. Arriving in Utah, he settled in Salt Lake City, and in 1849 was appointed as governor of Utah Territory. Young passed away on August 29, 1877, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Joshua Williams letter to Brigham Young
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 29 July 1876, and addressed to Brigham Young, the second president of the Mormon Church. Williams writes to Young concerning land east of the tithing office that may be used for a lumber yard.

Handwritten and signed letter, dated 11 May 1877, and addressed to Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church. Williams writes to Young concerning the divorce trial between Brigham Young and Ann Eliza Young.
Wives of Brigham Young
Typewritten list. The item presents a list of 59 women known to have been married to the second president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brigham Young. The list was compiled "From Temple Work Sheets in L.D.S. gen. Soc. Archives." The item also includes biographical data on each wife.

Handwritten and signed letter, dated 9 Jan. 1876, and addressed to Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church. Woodmansee writes concerning land for sale next to the Salt Lake Theatre.

Handwritten and signed account with Joseph Birch which lists the amount of "Proceeds" from the Southern Cotton Factory. Young writes, "I think this account is corect I have look it over and am satisfide."

Brigham Young and Willard Richards certificate of introduction
Handwritten and signed certificate including the official seal of the territory of Utah with a green ribbon attached. The item is written "to whom it may concern." It introduces the bearer as an acquaintance of Brigham Young. The manuscript was probably used for missionaries of the Mormon Church. The item was signed by both Young and Willard Richards, an apostle in the Mormon Church.
Brigham Young eyeglasses
A pair of eyeglasses that were made for Brigham Young after coming to Utah in 1847, and were left at the home of Emma Gardner in Payson or Nephi, Utah, on one his trips south prior to 1865.
