Biography

Charles Christopher Springer was a resident of Germany in the early 17th century.

Charles Christopher Springer (1592-1669) was born in Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany, the oldest surviving son of Christophe Springer and Elsie Amanda Wehrhahn. Charles married Karin in Germany in 1625. They had one child, Laurentuis (or Lorentz). His second marriage was to Alma Dorothea Jacobie (unknown year); they had a daughter, Christina, but Alma died in 1647. He then married a third woman, Lady Beata Salina, on October 15, 1654, in Stockholm, Sweden. They had 5 children: Elizabeth Ann, Charles Carl Christopher, Christopher, Baltzer, Jacob Christopher. Charles died on May 18, 1669, in Klara, Stockholm, Sweden, at the age of 77, and was buried in Klara Kyrkogård [churchyard, cemetery] in Stockholm. At the time of his death, Charles was the archives inspector of the Royal Exchequer and had apparently served the Swedish government for forty years; his wife, Beata, was the royal housekeeper for the dowager queen Hedvig Eleonora (widow of King Charles X) at Gripsholm Castle, and upon her death in December 1693, was buried in Gripsholm church in Mariefred.
