Biographical History

John D. Powell (1923-1998) was a teacher in Idaho.

John Davis Powell Jr. was born on April 4, 1923, in Pocatello, Idaho to John Davis Powell Sr. and Julia Shields. He was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was baptized a member in 1931. During World War II he served in the United States Navy, and after his discharge he married Mary Lorraine Howell on December 20, 1946, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They eventually had 12 children. Powell attended college, earning bachelor's and master's degrees. He later worked for railroad and as high school teacher.

John D. Powell passed away on June 22, 1998, in Pocatello, Idaho.
