Biographical History

Langley Allgood Bailey (1838-1929) was a handcart pioneer, missionary to England, and early settler of Utah.

Langley Allgood Bailey was born in 1838 to Jane Allgood and Henrey Williams in Leicestershire, England. He spent his childhood years there then later immigrated to the United States with his parents and siblings in 1856. He was a member of the Martin Handcart Company and served a mission to England in 1885. He was very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a clerk keeping detailed financial records for the church. He married Sarah Andrews in 1861, and they became the parents of twelve children. He later married Sarah Emma Warner in 1883, and they had five children together. Bailey died September 13, 1929 in Nephi, Juab County, Utah.
