Biographical History

Janet B. Bradford (1956-) is a retired music and dance librarian in Utah.

Janet B. Bradford was born May 19, 1956, in Montpelier, Idaho. She received an associate degree in piano pedagogy from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho in 1976. In 1990, she received a B.A. in music theory from Brigham Young University. Janet received a master's in library and information science from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign in 1986. She also attended graduate classes in musicology from 1990 to 1995. Janet began working for the Brigham Young University Harold B. Lee library in 1984. She worked as a catalog librarian for music and dance, as the curator of Latter-day Saints popular music, and as an interim Associate University Librarian for Metadata and Information Technology from 2020 to 2022. Janet presented a devotional to the BYU campus in 2011, titled, "Carry On." Janet was active in the Music Library Association, Utah Library Association, and a co-writer of an article on film composer Max Steiner published in Oxford Music Online. Janet retired from the BYU library in 2022.

Janet was a member of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square from 2009 to 2007. As of 2024, she is a member of the Utah Baroque Ensemble and a member of a local community Utah Valley county choir.
