Biographical History

Duane E. Hiatt (1937- ) was a radio announcer, a director of communications for the Division of Continuing Education at BYU, author of "The Spoken Word: for Tabernacle Choir" broadcasts, and composer of the song "Follow the Prophet."

Duane Evan Hiatt was born on June 16, 1937. On December 15, 1961, he then married his first wife Diane Robertson in Payson, Utah. The family eventually moved to Provo in 1963.

While in Provo, Duane had a busy career. Aside from his time in the band "The 3 Ds," he worked as a radio announcer, a Director of Communications for the Division of Continuing Education at Brigham Young, the author of "The Spoken Word" portions for Tabernacle Choir, and a composer for the song "Follow the Prophet." He also served as the president of America's Freedom Festival in Provo, as a Bishop and High Councilor for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a missionary in Tonga and the Caribbean.

Diane Robertson passed away from cancer in 1987. Hiatt remarried Sharon Johnson a few years after. Johnson and Hiatt went on to perform music, comedy, and history narration to their community.
