Fern Scott Young (1885-1969) was a homemaker in Utah, Idaho, and Washington.

Fern Scott Young was born on July 12, 1885 to James Walter Scott and Laura Melissa Tolmen in Armstead, Montana. She married Marcus LeGrand Young Jr on June 23, 1909 in Armstead, Montana. Together they had three children. Young and her husband orginally lived in Salt Lake City, Utah and then moved to Weiser Idaho and, eventually, Yakima Washington. Young died on July 21, 1969 in Yakima, Washington and was buried in July 1969 in Salt Lake City.

Content Description

Contains ten handwritten letters from Young to his fiance (and later wife) Fern Tolman Scott. Topics include courtship, working with railroad companies, and setting up their household in Salt Lake City. Many of the letters were written on paper with letterhead for Oregon Short Line Railroad Company and Emigration Canon Railroad Company, both of which Young worked for during this time. Dated 1900-1915.
