Biographical History

LeGrand Young Jr. (1877-1964) was a superintendent of railroads in Utah.

Marcus LeGrand Young Jr. was born on November 6, 1877 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the son of Marcus LeGrand Young and the grandson of Joseph Young. He married Fern Tolman Scott in Armstead, Montana on June 23, 1909, and had three children. He worked for the Oregon Short Line Railroad and was later a superintendent of the Emigration Canon Railroad Company. Young died on January 30, 1964 in Yakima, Washington.

Contains ten handwritten letters from Young to his fiance (and later wife) Fern Tolman Scott. Topics include courtship, working with railroad companies, and setting up their household in Salt Lake City. Many of the letters were written on paper with letterhead for Oregon Short Line Railroad Company and Emigration Canon Railroad Company, both of which Young worked for during this time. Dated 1900-1915.
