Biographical Statement

Barbara W. Lepke-Sims (born 1953) is a professional harp player and administrator for the American Harp Society.

Barbara Lepke-Sims grew up in Summit, New Jersey and started playing the harp when she was 12-years-old. In 1975 she graduated with honors with a Bachelor in Music Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She went on the receive a Master of Music degree from Juilliard in 1978, a Certificate in Theology from the Denver Seminary in 1982, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1986. In 1978 she moved to Denver, Colorado and worked as a full-time professional harpist and adjunct professor of harp at Colorado State University and Colorado Acadamy from 1978-1991. From 1991 on she has worked as a teacher and part-time freelance harpist. Recordings from her personal career include "Barbara Weiger" in 1980, "Bell and Lepke: The Denver and Harp Duo" in 1989, "The Lamb: A Christmas Suite for Voice(s) and Harp" by John Kuzma in 1998, and "Music for the Heart: Soothing Melodies to Comfort Your Soul" in 2011. She has also worked as an administrator for the American Harp Society since 1986, holding positions such as Chairman of the Board, Mid-Western Regional Representative, a 1st Vice President, a member fo the Executive Committee, president of the Mile High Chapter, and Chairman of the organization's 1988 25th National Conference in Denver, Colorado.
