Biography
Sarah Oakey Sirrine (1854-1942) was a Southeastern Idaho pioneer.
Sarah Oakey was born in Nottingham, England March 31, 1854. At the age of 8, she immigrated to the United States with the rest of her family. They travelled by boat and by train to Florence, Nebraska before taking wagons out west to Utah. It was there in Utah where Sarah was baptized a member of the church. A short time after their arrival, they were asked to settle the Bear Lake region of Southeastern Idaho.
In the small community of Dingle, Sarah was raised and on November 6th, 1879 she was married to George Edward Sirrine. Except for a few years in Mesa, Arizona, the two would live out their whole lives in Dingle, Idaho, having 6 children together. Sarah died in Dingle, Idaho on August 12, 1942, at the age of 88.
