Biography

David A. Sawyer (1942-1997) was a Major General in the United States Air Force.

David A Sawyer was born on December 15, 1942 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He attended Brigham Young University and received a Bachelor's degree in Asian studies in 1968. He graduated from the University's Reserve Officer Training Corps program and entered the Air Force.

As a member of the Air Force he participated in 140 combat missions, served as commanded of a squadron, and served as Deputy Commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Sawyer also served as a missionary in the Northern Far East mission. He married Jeanne Tucker on August 21, 1967 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Sawyer passed away on June 23, 1997. He is buried in Salt Lake City, Utah.
