Biographical History

Paul Harmon (1919-2011) was a business professor in Utah.

Paul Lewis Harmon was born on September 22, 1919 in Provo, Utah to Clarence Holman Harmon and Sara Myrl Lewis. He attended Brigham Young High School, serving as the senior class president in 1937. After his graduation he went to Brigham Young University, and then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Brazil from 1941 to 1943. Upon his return he enlisted in the United States Navy, and completed his degree from Brigham Young University. Harmon attended officer training school at Harvard University. While in Massachusetts he married Margaret Jones, and they had four children.

After completing his military service in 1946, Harmon and his family returned to Provo. He earned a master's degree in accounting from Brigham Young University in 1948, then joined the family automobile sales business. Between 1949 and 1959 Harmon operated a dealership in American Fork. He then decided to continue his education and moved his family to California, where he completed a Ph.D. in management at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1962.

After completing his studies Harmon returned to Utah, joining the business faculty at the University of Utah. In 1971 his wife, Margaret, passed away; two years later he married Esther Towns. Harmon died September 26, 2011 in Valencia, California.
