Biographical History

Edith Farnes Budd (1875-1970) was a homemaker and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Edith Farnes Budd was born on November 14, 1875, in Logan, Utah, the fifth child of parents Ebenezer and Mary Catherine Bullock Farnes. Edith's mother, Mary, died when Edith was about three years old, so was raised by her father's second wife, Veta Josephine Fjeldsted Farnes. She graduated from the L.D.S. High School in Salt Lake City, and met her future husband, George Henry Budd at a youth fireside. When he went on an mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1896, George asked Edith to wait for him, which she agreed to do. When George returned from his mission, they were married on September 27, 1899, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together, they had six children: Edith, Douglas, Catherine, George, Farnese, and Wallace. They lived in Salt Lake City and Kamas, Utah; Raymond, Alberta, Canada; Washington, D.C.; and California. She served in the church everywhere they lived, often with the youth, whom she had an easy, comfortable association with. She lived her final years with her children, always able to contribute financially to whatever her needs were. Edith died on December 18, 1970, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
