Aug. 8, 1949 in Portland, Oregon to Thomas Hartman Christensen and Helen Louise Magelson; raised in Seattle, Washington from age 4; went to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. from 1967-1969; mission to Brasil North Mission from 1969-71; finished a B.S. in Math at University of Washington in 1973; M.L.S. at BYU in 1975; librarian at Utah Technical College in Salt Lake from May 1975 to Jan 1981; General Reference Librarian at BYU from Jan 1981 to Summer 1986; Science Librarian from 1986 to Jan 2014; retired from the university)
