Biographical History

John M. Butler (1878-1966) was a business owner, a grocer, and a proud family historian.

John MacDuff Butler was born on March 2, 1878 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to parents William L. and Jane Rowan Macduff Butler. Like his father, he went into the grocery business, and eventualy owned his own store. On October 7, 1936, he wrote and delivered an address to the Centerville Second Ward that outlined his family history, naming his grandparents, his mother and her siblings, and enumerating the extended family at that time. He died on October 13, 1966 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
