Biographical History

George Edwards (1815-approximately 1875) wrote a Journal for the Second Quarter of Miss Chittenden's School in Bath in 1821.

George Edwards was born in 1815 in or near Bath, New York, to mother Hannah Edwards. He attended school in Miss Chittenden's School, keeping a very good daily journal of what he did and how well he did it. His journal also includes notes from attending church. Later in life, he became a Civil War soldier, a school trustee and a judge. George died some time after 1875.

Collection contains the handwritten notes of George Edwards at Miss Chittenden's School in Bath, New York. He notes his daily lessons, including specific subjects, and the exam scores of himself and a few others. Also included are his notes of the sermons each week at church. Dated February 10th to March 27th, 1828.
