Biographical History

Ava Beckstrand Stewart (1913-2006) was a businesswoman and nurse in Utah.

Ava Beckstrand was born February 13, 1913 in Meadow, Utah, the sixth child of Heber William and Mary Elizabeth Stewart Beckstrand. She attended schools in Meadow and Delta, Utah and graduated from Millard County High School in 1931. She then worked in Salt Lake City, where she met Raymond Riggs Stewart. They were married on November 13, 1934 in the Salt Lake Temple, and had four children. They lived in Pocatello, Idaho; and Ogden, Salt Lake, American Fork, Provo, and Orem, Utah. Her husband Ray developed the Timp Haven Ski Resort, and she was responsible for Ava's Lunch Stand. Ava also graduated from Utah Technical College of Practical Nursing in 1961, and worked for local doctors in Orem until she retired. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served a mission to England with her husband, and worked in the Provo Temple baptistry. She was also a member of the Knittin' Club, Dancing Friends, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Orem Women's Club, and Yeshira Club. Stewart died December 18, 2006 in Orem, Utah.
