Biographical History

Clifford F. McKinney (1903-1996) was a local ecclesiastical leader and an amateur photographer.

Clifford Farrell McKinney was born September 4, 1903 to Charles Franklin McKinney and Versa Ina Brandenburgh McKinney in Hobart, Oklahoma Territory. He married Ruth Kathryn Mathisen on February 21 1924 in Los Angeles, California. In the early 1950s he was a member of the North Sanpete Stake Presidency, and on September 14, 1953 he went to a meeting in the Deseret Coal Mine with President David O. McKay, where he took some photographs of the event. He died May 24, 1996 in Spring City, Utah.

Scope and Contents

Materials include seven slides taken by Clifford F. McKinney of President David O. McKay at Deseret Coal Mine on September 14, 1953 for the meeting and reopening of the mine. There are pictures of President McKay in the mine and talking to the miners.
