Biographical History

Winnifred Morrell Cannon (1888-1974) was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, wife and mother from Logan, Utah.

Winnifred Morrell Cannon was born February 7, 1888, in Logan, Cache County, Utah. She married Clawson Y. Cannon on September 11, 1913, in the Logan Utah Temple. She died after a short battle with illness on March 12, 1974. Mrs. Cannon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving frequently as an organist and as both a youth organization and Relief Society Ward president and as Relief Society president of the Iowa District for many years. She served as president of the Brigham Young University Women from 1929 to 1930, and was a member of the Nelke Reading Club and Thursday Club. She resided in Provo for eighteen years while her husband was a faculty member of Brigham Young University. In 1965, Mrs. Cannon with her husband were awarded the Joseph F. Smith Family Living Award by Brigham Young University. Winnifred passed away in 1974.
