George Stanton Barrus family history papers, MSS 8043. (born to Foster Junius and Lois Sanders Barrus on February 26, 1925 in Long Beach, California; returned to Utah in 1927, settling in Tooele; graduated from Tooele High School in 1943 and began attending the University of Utah; joined the Navy that same year; signed on with the Navy V-12 program, which allowed him to continue his pre-med education; served until 1946; met Anna Merlynn Droubay on leave in 1944, but his continued service in the military, followed by a mission in Stockholm Sweden Mission from 1946-1948 meant they did not marry until December 1948; moved to Columbia, Missouri for graduate school until 1950, when they returned to Utah; moved to Holbrook, Arizona where Barrus worked for the Holbrook Tribune News; first son was born on August 10, 1950; moved to Idaho so he could work for the Independent-Enterprise in 1953, where their second son was born; moved to Salt Lake City where Barrus worked for the Granite Park Press and ad agencies in the area; returned to school, so they moved to Cedar City, then he got an M.A. at BYU, beginning his studies in 1962; received his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa, then they returned to Utah where he worked as a faculty member at BYU; had a total of eight children; They currently live in Provo.)
