Dale L. Olsen (1922-2012) was a farmer and schoolteacher in Rigby, Idaho and a photographer in World War II.

Dale LaVern Olsen was born October 2, 1922 in Rigby, Idaho to Henry and Florence Lundquist Olsen. He received an associate degree from Ricks College and a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. He later returned to Ricks College to obtain a teaching certificate. He married Loa Jean Butler in the Salt Lake Temple on September 2, 1948. They lived in Provo until he graduated from Brigham Young University and then moved to Rigby, Idaho. He farmed in Rigby and also intermittently taught classes. His wife, Loa Jean, died September 2, 1973. Dale later met Carole Rasmussen McKinley, whose husband had also passed away, and they married “for time only” in the Idaho Falls Temple. During World War II, Dale served in the U.S. Army in a medical photographic unit. He served in the Philippines, Hawaii and Japan, and served in the Okinawa Campaign. He took extensive photographs throughout this time.
