Biographical History

Russell Magleby (1906-1991) was a skilled athlete who played both basketball and football for Snow College and Brigham Young University.

Russell Magleby was born to John Ephraim and Jane Adam Warnock Magleby of Monroe, Utah. Russell was a skilled athlete; he became a member of the all-star basketball team in 1927, and was a quarterback and later captain of the football team at Snow College, where he met his future wife, Maude Jensen. Both graduated from Snow in 1927, and moved on to Brigham Young University. Then from 1927 to 1931, he was the star guard on the basketball team, and played halfback and later quarterback on the football team for BYU. He married Maude (1906-1988, daughter of Jens Christian and Ane Witta (Jeppesdatter) Jeppesen Jensen of Manti, Utah) on August 30, 1928, in the Salt Lake Temple (his brother Reed married Dorothy Harmon in the same temple on the same day). They adopted a daughter, Julie, in 1953.
