Obituary for Walter P. Cottam, Deseret News, via WWW, Nov. 6, 2013. (born March 2, 1894 in St. George, Utah; parents Emmaline Jarvis and Thomas P. Cottam; married Effie Frei July 1, 1915; Bachelor's and Master's from BYU; doctoral from U of Chicago; dissertation on Ecology of the Flora of Utah Lake; taught at BYU for 12 years; taught at University of Utah for 31 years starting 1931; served as head of botany department; retired in 1962; founded the Red Butte Garden and Arboretum; died December 22, 1988.)
