Biographical History

John B. Stohlton (born 1936) is a former lawyer, academic administrator, and religion professor in Utah.

John Bailey Stohlton was born on December 25, 1936. He attended Brigham Young University, and converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during his studies. Stohlton graduated in 1960, then attended George Washington University Law School. He received his law degree in 1964 and returned to California to practice law.

In 1984, Stohlman returned to BYU as assistant executive vice president. He was released from his administrative position in 1999, and began teaching full time in Religious Education.

Stohlton has served in the Church in various positions, including bishop and stake president. He also served as president of the Australia Melbourne Mission from 1991 to 1994.
