Biographical History

J. Carl Morrison (1908-2002) was a grounds administrator in Arizona and Utah.

James Carl Morrison was born on July 16, 1908 in Jefferson, Kentucky to James Anthony Morrison and Daisy Florence Welch. He and his family lived in Florida, and he eventually moved to New York where he worked as a riding instructor and groomer. In 1934 he married Mary Cecilia Bowen (1904-1965) in Bedford, New York, and they had two children. He later moved his family to Mesa, Arizona where he worked as the grounds superintendent for the Mesa Arizona School District. While there he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1954 he took the position of superintendent of grounds at Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah. After the death of his wife, Mary, in 1965, he married Ruth Marie Riggs on June 16, 1966 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Morrison retired from the university in 1973, and died in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 22, 2002.
