Biographical History

O. Wendle Nielsen (1909-2000) was a financial professional and ecclesiastical leader in Utah and Pennsylvania.

Oscar Wendle Nielsen was born on October 20, 1909 in Fairview, Utah to Niels Peter Nielsen and Phylinda Terry. Nielsen was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1930 he married Allie Mae Carlston; after her death he also married Lillian Hope Stillman (1937), Celeste Cantono (1953), and Mary Brooks.

Nielsen attended Snow College and Brigham Young University before beginning a career in financial management. He established himself in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, working there betwee 1930 and 1958. He then took a position at Brigham Young University, working in Student Aids and Loans.

Nielsen was also active in the community, contributing to the Provo Freedom Festival and serving in Church callings. His Church service included time as a bishop, a high counselor, a member of the Provo Temple presidency, and as a sealer.

Nielsen passed away on July 31, 2000 in Provo, Utah.
