Biographical History

A. Rex Johnson (1898-1970) was a professor and academic administrator in Utah.

Arlin Rex Johnson was born on June 4, 1898 in Huntington, Utah to Edgar Amos Johnson and Julia Ellis Wakefield Johnson. He attended Brigham Young University, during which time he was drafted to join the U.S. Army during World War I. However, he never left the country. During his time at Brigham Young University, he was also a member of the Goldbrickers. He married Edith Jones on May 12, 1921. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1924 with a B.S. in Accounting and Business. For the next few years, he taught at Provo High School and at Brigham Young University. In 1931, he graduated with a M.A. from George Washington University. Four years later, in 1935, he graduated from George Washington University with a Ph.D. He spent the next fifteen years working as the assistant director of foreign agricultural relations in the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He also taught night classes at George Washinton University during this time. He then became the director of the Navy Southern University Financial Management Program. He worked as a professor at Nevada Southern University and the University of Nevada in Las Vegas until his death on February 10, 1970.
