Biographical History

Clyde Alvin Parker (1927-2016) was a psychologist in Utah and Minnesota.

Clyde Alvin Parker was born on March 17, 1927 in Ogden, Utah to Thomas Parker Jr. and Hendrika Van Braak. Raised in Ogden, he attended Ogden High School and joined the U.S. Navy after his graduation in 1945. He then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Central Atlantic States. In 1950 he married Ilene Kendell in the Logan Temple, and they had four children.

After his mission he studied first at Weber College, receiving an associate's degree in 1948. He then attended Brigham Young University, where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics education and counseling by 1952. He then completed a PhD in Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota in 1957.

Parker then began his career at Brigham Young University as chair of the Counseling Service. He left in 1965 to join the faculty at the University of Minnesota, remaining there until 1983 when he returned to Utah. He then worked as a clinical psychologist at McKay-Dee Hospital, and as an adjunct professor at the University of Utah.

After the death of his wife Ilene in 1998, Parker married Margaret MacDonald Jost. He remained active, and served in the Church in a variety of callings in his ward, stake, and as a temple worker.

Clyde Alvin Parker passed away in Ogden, Utah on October 9, 2016.
