Biographical History

The Robert Seeley family began with Robert Seeley (1602-1666). He married Mary Mason on December 15, 1626. The family immigrated to American in 1630 as part of the Winthrop Fleet, and settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. They moved several places, including New Haven, Connecticut. Robert's son Nathaniel continued the family line, giving birth to a son named Joseph, from which Montell Seely is descended. Robert Seeley was a shipping merchant, but his descendents became farmers and ranchers. Prominent family members include Nathaniel Seelye (1629-1675), Benjamin Seelye (?-1697), and Justus Azel Seely (1779-1859).
