Thirty-three handwritten records. The items are largely in Latin with some Greek references. The materials relate to the politics, internal matters, theological controversies, and censorship in the Catholic Church. The items date mainly from the last quarter of the sixteenth to the first quarter of the seventeenth centuries. Also included are references to important earlier events such as the Council of Trent. Many of the items relate to restricting certian works from being read.
Saint Francis de Sales papers
Handwritten correspondence, a list, and licenses, including one printed form with handwritten notations. The letters are by Francis, Pierre Francois Faius (Vicar-general of the Geneva diocese), Charles Auguste de Sales (Francis' nephew and successor as Bishop of Geneva), and Antoine Favre (a friend of Francis). Also included is a typewritten biography of Francis.
