Administrative History

The Tintic Mining District (1868-) was the largest mining district of Juab County, Utah.

The Tintic Mining District first started in 1868. It lies about 85 miles south of Salt Lake City in the Tintic Mountains. It is one of the oldest mining camps in Utah. The Tintic District is about six miles long by two miles wide which is divided between Utah and Juab counties. The district mined for gold, silver, copper, and other minerals. It was heavily active from 1869 to 1917.
