The Deseret News (1850- ) is a newspaper published in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The first edition of the Deseret News was published on June 15, 1850, on a $60 printing press which had traveled 1100 miles to Salt Lake City. It began as a weekly paper, focusing on The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as some national news. Today, it is still a widely read source of news and information as well as the official organ of the Church.

Includes 45,941 negatives associated with the J Malan Heslop photographs and include both black and white and color negatives. The negatives range in size from 35 mm, 120, 4x5, and 70 mm. They are primarily safety film, although a few of the earlier negatives are nitrate negatives. Materials dated 1940-2002.
