Administrative history

The Utah Federation for Drug-Free Youth (1985-1994) was a government-funded program providing drug-abuse education and resources for parents and youth.

Nina Watkins Palmer founded the organization in 1985, inspired by her son. Palmer served a two-year term as the organization's first President. It was a volunteer group with communities throughout Utah sponsoring peer counseling in high schools and assemblies and prevention programs in junior high and elementary schools. In 1994, the name was changed to Utah Federation of Youth, to reflection its promotion of safe and healthy communities through prevention of both substance abuse and violence.
