 Organization

Administrative History

The Japan Tokyo Mission (2008-) is a mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In 1968, the Northern Far East Mission divided to create the Japan Mission and Japan Okinawa Mission, which missions were renamed Japan Tokyo in 1974 and Japan Tokyo North in 1978. In 2008, the two Tokyo missions were consolidated into a single mission called the Japan Tokyo Mission. The separate Japan Tokyo South mission was recreated in 2013. The Japan Tokyo Mission includes 5 stakes and 1 district, the Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, Matsudo, and Kiryu stakes and a district in Niigata. The mission area also includes an Employment Resource Center and a few English language wards located in Tokyo. The Tokyo Japan Temple, dedicated in 1980, is also located within the mission boundaries.
