Administrative History

The Bachelor of General Studies Program (established 1999) functions under the Division of Continuing Education to provide educational opportunities to former Brigham Young University students.

The Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) Program offers former Brigham Young University students an opportunity to complete a degree from home. The bachelor of general studies (BGS) degree is a flexible, external degree program that uses the same BYU curriculum and mirrors the same university requirements expected of degree-seeking undergraduate students on campus, including general education, residency, and religious education requirements.
