Administrative History

The Brigham Young University 1st Ward was an ecclesiastical unit for Brigham Young University students that began in 1956 in Provo, Utah. The ward began as the Brigham Young University 1st Ward in the Brigham Young University Stake with the first bishop being Russell D. Lewis and Antone K. Romney as the first stake president. On April 17, 1960, Brigham Young University expanded to three stakes and Brigham Young University 1st Ward was placed in the Brigham Young University 3rd Stake. In approximately 1961, Rulon Gerald Craven was sustained as the bishop of the Brigham Young University 1st Ward. On June 1, 1964, the Brigham Young University 1st Ward was made part of the newly formed Brigham Young University 6th Stake. In 1965, Robert Ernest Parsons was sustained as bishop of the Brigham Young University 1st Ward. In approximately 1968, Alvin H. Price was sustained as bishop of the Brigham Young University 1st Ward.
