The California State Univeristy is a public university system in California. Previously known as the California State University and Colleges, the system took its current name in 1982.

Its Annual report ... 1981-82: t.p. (The California State University; CSU) p. 3 (On January 1, 1982, the words and Colleges' were dropped from our title and the system became 'The California State University.')
