The Department of Instructional Science (1976-1984) was a teaching unit at Brigham Young University.

The department was established in 1976 within the College of Education, and was responsible for responsible for instruction in pedagogy, instructional design, technology, and instructional psychology. The department offered a range of master's and Ph.D. degrees. Department chairs included Harvey B. Black (1976-1978) and Grant V. Harrison (1978-1984). In 1984 the department was reorganized as the Department of Curriculum and Instructional Science.

Scope and Contents

Contains course materials on instructional research, a photocopy of a dissertation on student learning strategies, and a T.E.A.M. Problem Solving instructors guide. Also includes planning materials related to Mutual Improvement Association activities in Menlo Park, California. Materials date between approximately 1973 and 1981.
