Administrative History

The Keystone View Company was an American stereographic image and equipment producer in Pennsylvania.

The Keystone View Company was established in 1892 in Meadville, Pennsylvania by B. L. Singley. The company produced stereoviews of educational and comic or sentimental themes. After its incorporation in 1905, the company began selling lantern slides and projection equipment as well. Keystone View Company became the largest stereograph producer, purchasing the negatives of most of its competitors between 1915 and 1921. In 1932 the company opened a new division to produce stereoscopic eye-testing and eye-training equipment. When the company was purchased in 1963 by Mast Development Company, only the eye-testing division was kept in operation. In 1972 the Meadville plant was closed.
