Biography

The American Association of University Professors (established 1915) is a non-profit membership foundation located in Washington D.C.

The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) was formed in 1915 by John Dewey (president) and Arthur O. Lovejoy (secretary). The mission of the AAUP is to provide shared governance and advance academic freedom in higher education. The association expanded to include chapters from every state in the U.S. and two international chapters.
