Administrative History

The Department of Physiology and Developmental Biology (est. 2003) is a department within the College of Life Sciences at Brigham Young University which focuses on the study of human biology.

The Department of Physiology and Developmental Biology includes classes on human biology, human anatomy, tissue biology, essentials in human physiology, dissection techniques in human anatomy, pathophysiology, developmental biology, and human embryology.

The department was administered by a department chairman, under the direction of the college dean. The department was associated with the College of Biology and Agriculture (2003-2007) and the College of Life Sciences (2007-). Department chairmen included Richard R. Tolman (2002-2003), R. Ward Rhees (2003-2004), James P. Porter (2004-2008), William W. Winder (2008-2012), and Dixon J. Woodbury (2012- ).
