Administrative History

Sports Information (1969-1996) provided media relations services for the Brigham Young University athletics teams.

Sports Information served to prepare programs for events; organize the selling of programs; arrange publicity before and after meets; handle sports' public relations; operate web sites; keep statistics of games, players, and attendees; send information and photos to competitors for news articles; and arrange press reservations and accommodations. The organization coordinated with ESPN and other networks, and the Sports Information Director collaborated with other Sports Information Directors in the Western Athletic Conference on statistics, scores, rules, and nominations. In 1996, the organization was renamed the Athletic Media Relations department.
