Biography

The Deseret Telegraph Company was a telegraph company located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Deseret Telegraph Company was organized in 1867 to construct a telegraph line running north to south, in order to connect Utah settlements to Salt Lake City and the First Transcontinental Telegraph. Operations were largely facilitated by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Brigham Young was president of the company. The line was purchased from the Church by the Western Union Telegraph Company in April of 1900.
