Administrative History
The Department of Conferences and Workshops is an administrative and teaching unit at Brigham Young University.
The department was previously known as the Department of Special Courses and Conferences, and took its current name in 1979. It is charged with offering and supporting credit-bearing and non-credit courses and programs for on-campus and distance students, as well as the general public. Directors have included Bert Gividen (1981-1989), R. Dwight Laws (1989-1994), Steven W. Taggart (1994-2013), and Robert Holcombe (2013- )).
