Administrative History

The Career Education Program (1974-1992) was an educational program at Brigham Young University. The program assisted students with undeclared majors and others to establish career goals and develop job skills.

The Career Education Program was established in 1974 as part of the College of General Studies. It taught courses and workshops to students on decision-making and life-planning, and operated a career information center in its offices. In 1979 it became part of Student Life. Its activities were merged with other student services as the Counseling and Development Center in 1992.

Directors and chairs of the unit included Richard A. Heaps (1974-1976), Elwood R. Peterson (1976-1984), Clyde E. Sullivan (1984-1990), and David M. Sorenson (1990-1992).
